Vacuum: Pull a hard vacuum (below 29" Hg) for at least 30 minutes to boil off any moisture. Hold the vacuum for another 15 minutes after the pump is off to ensure no leaks.
Refrigerant Charge: The 2012 Accord (4-cyl, R-134a) has a total system capacity of 12 oz (0.75 lb) of R-134a. Always check the underhood decal for exact specs.
Charging Method: Use a manifold gauge set. Connect to the low-side port. With the engine running and A/C on high, add refrigerant as a liquid (upside-down can) until the low-side gauge reads 15–25 psi at idle.
Verify: Check that the evaporator isn’t flooding—warm the liquid line near the firewall. It should be cool but not cold. Overcharging causes high head pressure and poor performance.
Note: If the system was open for more than a day, replace the receiver/drier. Ensure all connections are tight and O-rings are lubricated with PAG oil.
If unsure about leak integrity or oil type, consult a certified technician.
